Bequest is definitely the most common and easiest way to plan a donation, and it carries significant tax benefits for the donor’s heirs, most notably in terms of considerably reducing taxes payable. Bequest allows you to leave a legacy to ÉTS in the following ways, among others:
- A cash amount
- A portion or the balance of your estate
- Any other type of asset (building, patent, etc.)
There are numerous ways to make such a bequest. A new will may be prepared, or it is possible to add stipulations to an existing will in the form of a codicil. ÉTS can be named as a beneficiary of a testamentary trust. Your legal counsel can guide you in determining the option that best suits your situation.
